PANAMINT VALLEY LANDSCAPE IMPACTS                        To Main Page
The following are photo-panoramas, made by "stitching" three or more regular snapshots together in an
image editor.  Each photo was taken at the same time consecutively turning the camera at the same location.
Annotations were added after stitching, also using the image editor.  When the issue is the impact to a
large landscape it is very difficult to project for people an idea of the scale of the impact.  This page
and the Panamint Valley Simulation View Page are attempts to provide the public with some indication of
what we may be in store for.

Panamint Valley Landscape Looking northwest from crest of Slate Range (Empasse)
This site is about a half hour hike east from Hiway 178's Slate Range Crossing.  It is only from here that
the Slate Range view contains both the current site and the proposed new site.

Panamint Valley Landscape Looking north from Hiway 178 at Slate Range Crossing

From here the current mine is around to the right. New exploration impacts will be visible from here.
Once you drive down into the valley and get to the turnoff for Ballarat, both mining areas are in visible,
the new one close in front of you, the current mine five miles to the south.
